Rodrygo sat out Real’s weekend draw with Atletico Madrid in LaLiga due to a groin issue and is a doubt for Thursday’s El Clasico, but did return to training on Tuesday.
Carlo Ancelotti was already without defenders Ferland Mendy and David Alaba due to leg muscle injuries.
All three undertook individual work early this week while Mendy has restarted training with the ball having picked up his knock in the last round of the Copa.
Nacho Fernandez is most likely to fill in at left-back in the duo’s absence although Edouardo Camavinga is another option.
Up front, Marco Asensio could continue if Rodrygo is not fit but young forward Alvaro Rodriguez netted the leveller against Atletico to put himself in contention.
Madrid are set to pick a strong line-up for the first leg of the Clasico tie, which is not set to feature Elyaz Zidane – the fourth son of footballing legend Zinedine – despite the 17-year-old’s call-up to senior training this week.
Predicted Real Madrid XI: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Rudiger, Nacho; Valverde, Tchouameni, Modric; Asensio, Benzema, Vinicius Jr.
