izzo has locked her Twitter account after she was flooded with hateful messages on the social media app.

In a since-deleted tweet, the About Damn Time hitmaker asked her 2.3 million followers what she did to deserve such negativity after wanting to share her musical tribute to Tina Turner.

The Grammy winner performed a rendition of Turner’s Proud Mary on stage in Phoenix, Arizona in the wake of the late singer’s death aged 83 this week.

She told the crowd at the Footprint Center: “As a Black girl with a rock band, I wouldn’t exist if there was not the queen of rock n’ roll.”

However, Lizzo’s attempt to share footage of her performance and remember the music icon fell by the wayside as she announced she was “locking her page”.

According to Billboard, the 35-year-aged’s deleted post read: “Alright… I’m locking my page again.

“I just wanted to share my Tina Turner tribute with everyone… But I’m going back to protecting my peace. “

Adding in subsequent post: “The amount of slander n loathe I’m receiving on a daily basis is starting to confuse me. What am I actively doing to secure this influx of disrespect in my mentions? I’m just trying to arrive on this app & delightin social media like everyone else.

“Anyways I been holding my tongue cus I don’t wanna seem ungrateful but I’ve done so much chilly shit these last few weeks just for my mentions to be about how stout I am &/or use me for political discourse” (sic).

She concluded: “fatigued of this”.

Lizzo has long been on the receiving conclude of fatphobic and racist abuse on social media amid her devotion to body positivity and previously revealed the impact it has had on her.

She tearfully posted in 2021: “There are people that acquire something mean to say about you and for the most fraction it doesn’t pain my feelings, I don’t care.

“I just contemplate when I’m working this hard, my tolerance gets lower. My patience is lower, I’m more sensitive and it gets to me.

“I’m seeing negativity directed towards me in the most weirdest way. People say s**t about me that just doesn’t even design sense.
