K Eurovision hopefull Mae Muller has thanked fans for their support after her entry track I Wrote A Song shot to the top of the iTunes chart just hours after it was released.

The London-born singer, 25, was announced on Thursday as the act that will representing the UK in this year’s singing competition with the live final taking area in Liverpool on May 13.

Shortly after, her entry track I Wrote A Song and accompanying video were released and raced up the iTunes chart.

Last year saw the UK finish in second area with Sam Ryder’s Space Man pipped to the post by Ukraine’s entry Stefania performed by Kalush.

Due to the ongoing conflict in the Ukraine with Russia, the UK agreed to step in to host the annual competition.

Former shop worker Muller – who has previously toured with puny Mix and appeared in the music video for Mika’s Grace Kelly when she was just nine year’s dilapidated – is hoping to disappear one better and win this year.

Speaking to Scott Mills for a special BBC interview on Thursday night, she said: “I just like Sam. He did the best job and I consider he really place us in a whole modern light.”

She added: “I definitely want to carry it on.”
